At the request of the Howard County Board of Rabbis, Rabbi Hillel Baron of Congregation Ahavas Israel performs duties as a part time chaplain for Jewish citizens residing in facilities throughout Howard County.
 
Rabbi Hillel Baron provides needed religious services, Jewish learning and pastoral counseling by:

• Providing coordinated visitation rounds for Jewish citizens in hospitals, living independently, in assisted living centers and nursing homes
• Providing needed religious services such as Shabbat and holiday services at senior citizens facilities which provides opportunities for Jewish residents in such setting to meet other Jews
• Visiting Jewish patients at Howard County General Hospital twice weekly
• Being on call for hospital emergencies
• Coordinating volunteers, preschools and youth groups to visit nursing homes for the Jewish Holidays and throughout the year
