Howard County Government Message on COVID Vaccination

A MESSAGE FROM STEPHANIE ADIBE

DEPUTY DIRECTOR, HOWARD COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND SERVICES

Dear Friends and Advocates,

First, I want to again thank you for your commitment to service by way of our 2020 Census Complete County Committee. Just a few months ago, we called on you to help in building public awareness around the value of participating in the census, and the resources that communities would gain through completing the survey. Your assistance helped Howard County to surpass its participation rate from the 2010 Census, positioned us as the most responsive county in Maryland in online completion, and have one of the highest total completion rates in the country.

I am again calling on your support as community leaders to help disseminate important information, this time regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. Recently, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced phased availability for vaccines to be administered to priority groups throughout the county. Beginning on Monday, January 25, Howard County will begin providing COVID-19 vaccinations to residents ages 75 and older. All Howard County Residents who want to register for vaccination are encouraged to complete this survey and to provide contact information to the Howard County Health Department. On February 8, vaccinations will be made available to residents ages 65-74. Registrations for this age group should complete this survey.

We need your help in making sure that all Howard County residents, particularly within our older adult communities, are aware of and encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to be vaccinated against the coronavirus and its emerging variants. We all have been touched by this global pandemic, and we are committed to ensuring that all residents have the information to make informed choices about their health, and their role in returning Howard County to a quality of life enjoyed by many.

If you know residents who may be unable to complete the survey online, please encourage them to call 410-313-6284 or to email HoCovaccine@howardcountymd.gov for assistance. Appointments will not be immediately available upon completing the survey, but residents or their proxies will be emailed in the next 10 days with additional instructions explaining how to make an appointment.

For more information on Howard County's vaccination distribution plan, eligibility requirements, and questions about the virus or vaccine, please visit this website or call the Howard County Health Department at 410-313-6300. If you require accommodations or assistance, please call the Howard County Health Department at 410-313-6300.

To help coordinate our efforts as a group, I am looking to set up a virtual meeting in the coming days to answer any questions you may have about the surveys, the distribution plan, or to provide details on resources that will soon be available to help you spread the word. Thank you for your consideration, and all your support of our relatives, friends, and neighbors throughout Howard County.

Thank You

Stephanie
